Hurricane Irma hit the BVI on September 6. As has been widely reported, Irma caused severe damage to buildings and infrastructure in the islands. Our thoughts remain with all those affected.
We gratefully acknowledge the kind messages of support from our friends, clients and colleagues. We are happy and relieved to report that all Forbes Hare staff in the BVI are safe and well. Power is now restored to parts of Road Town, and we shall re-open our BVI offices as soon as we are able. Our business continuity procedures have been fully functional throughout, and all BVI-related matters are for the time being handled by BVI-qualified lawyers in our London, Cayman Islands and Singapore offices. We are cooperating with other leading firms in the financial services sector to minimise the impact of the hurricane on the business sector, to restore functionality and to rebuild. The Governor, the BVI Government and the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court have already made significant progress in re-establishing critical business systems and facilities, many of which are now functional.
